An Unofficial Introductory Syllabus for OTO and EGC

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

This is not an official O.T.O. document or syllabus, but a suggested 8-course series of introductory material geared toward outreach and training new members in the basics of OTO and EGC.

All of these course materials are already-approved courses from the USGL Education Committee. They are available to Bodymasters and Camp-in-Formation organizers by e-mailing education@oto-usa.org


Course 1: Introduction to Ordo Templi Orientis

A very basic introduction to the fundamentals of Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.) — [Includes Powerpoint slide deck].

Course 2: EGC History, Structure, and Calendar

An introductory class about the history, structure, and calendar of Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica (EGC).

Course 3: Introduction to the Gnostic Mass

An introductory class about the central ritual of OTO, the Gnostic Mass.

Course 4: 93, Will, Love, and the 3 Aeons

This course focuses on some basic information about the Law of Thelema, including introducing the meaning of “Thelema,” “Agape,” the number 93, and the three Aeons.

Course 5: The Magi & their Words, and The Holy Books

This course focuses on some basic information about the Law of Thelema, including introducing the idea the Magi, the “Words” of the Magi, and the Holy Books of Thelema.

Course 6: Miracle of Incarnation and Thelemic Cosmology

This course focuses on some basic information about the Law of Thelema, including introducing the ideas of the Miracle of Incarnation and Thelemic Cosmology (Nuit, Hadit, Ra-Hoor-Khuit).

Course 7: Thelemic Ethics

This lesson intends to introduce the Thelemic approach to ethics. The goals include a clear understanding of the relevance of “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law” to the sphere of morality and the facilitation of discussion around the Will and Thelemic Ethics.

Course 8: Promulgation of the Law of Thelema

This lesson intends to introduce the idea of the promulgation of the Law of Thelema. The goals include a clear understanding of what “promulgation” is and what it is not, how it is relevant to the mission of O.T.O., and how it is important for Thelema in general.
